Job Title:GCCS Administrator
Participate as a member of integrated government/contractor team of technical and functional experts in the conduct of Global Command and Command System – Joint (GCCS-J) administration; software application support, configuration management support, and IT support services supporting U.S. Army Central (USARCENT) GCCS architecture. Provide onsite support for systems/services operated and maintained by the Server Maintenance Team and the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Technical Support Team. Prepare, update, and maintain accreditation packages for new or existing systems and equipment. Maintain and publish current network information to include trend analysis of common problems and system performance, average device and service uptime, service outage durations and frequencies, and trouble ticket status updates. Monitor servers, applications, and services to facilitate early detection of incidents, impending outages or degradations.
The contractor shall be responsible for ensuring system availability and reliability of the Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) and related GCCS Family of Systems (FoS) on U.S. and Coalition networks. The contractor shall be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and the implementation of existing and future versions of the GCCS FoS. Coordinate with local and remote users, workgroup managers, and communications focal point personnel to resolve computer software and hardware problems. Conduct planning activities to include upgrades, enhancements, and replacements of software and hardware. Perform any necessary actions required to respond to GCCS FoS problem reports. Perform system, security, and operational testing/evaluation events in coordination with other stakeholders (DISA, Joint Staff, CENTCOM, etc.) to determine suitability to field for future releases. Attending GCCS-related Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and other conferences or meetings.
Provide technical support including IA and Client/Server installation for interoperability of the ABCS including: links to Command Post of the Future (CPOF) COP (Common Operational Picture) management through the use of GCCS-A/J, C2PC, I3 (Integrated Intelligence and Imagery), ICSF (Integrated C4I Systems Framework), AGILE Client, JOPES, Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (TBMD), and various GCCS-J subsystems. The contractor shall provide recommendations, and network synchronization tools solutions regarding integrating the C2 systems applications into the existing architecture, processes and procedures. The contractor shall load and configure all hardware and software; establish and maintain user accounts, files and profiles; troubleshoot and resolve system aberrations; and, as required, identify and report network malfunctions to those responsible for its maintenance. Provide management, system administration, planning, and operational support for all C2 servers and client assets, including UNIX systems, TBMCS, MAAP-TK, GCCS-J, JADOCS, VMware, and Citrix. Tasks include but are not limited to: auditing system logs; password changes; authoring/deploying group policies and user account maintenance; install, maintain and administer software based on commercial operating systems such as Windows XP/7/10, Solaris, Linux, Unix, and Windows Server 2008/2012/2013. Load C2 system application software and patches. Install, configure and maintain rack mounted and stand workstations/servers. Manage local system backup. Manage remote system backup connections and utilities (e.g. SnapMirror). Perform Configuration Management and Project Management and ensure IA compliance for all GCCS FoS assets. Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance. Perform systems administration, software application support, configuration management support, and IT support services for the support of GCCS-J which includes the suite of applications; Active Directory, DNS, Exchange, Time Server, Agile Client, Joint Targeting Toolbox (JTT) and Joint Command and Control Common User Interface (JC2CUI). Support infrastructures in a mixed Windows/UNIX environment and Red Hat Linux. Modify and maintain UNIX/Linux & Windows Hardware & Software configurations. Implement and maintain Window desktops. Analyze system faults, troubleshoot and run diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems
Minimum 3 years of technical working knowledge of Basic UNIX, Web Logic, Solaris 8 and 10, LINUX, Red Hat, VMware, and Windows Operating Systems/Servers and supported systems IAVAs. Experience operating and maintaining systems in virtualized environments. Understand Active Directory.
Comprehensive knowledge of basic computer hardware and software fundamentals. Have a good understanding of basic hardware configurations and troubleshooting techniques. Must show experience with DHCP and DNS concepts for troubleshooting purposes and understand basic networking concepts.
Experience installing, configuring and administering GCCS-A/J servers and clients and the family of associated applications. Must have demonstrated experience with systems including: CPOF, Agile Client, C2PC, I3, ICSF, JOPES, TBMD, JADOCS, JTT, C2BMC, IPL, and/or JOPES. Ability to integrate these systems and their applications with one another, as well as other Army Battle Field Command Systems (ABCS) and joint platform systems.
Experience accessing and evaluating information technology systems and making recommendations to management about incorporating systems into the enterprise architecture. Critical thinking – ability to visualize and articulate end-to-end systems solutions. Must be capable of performing complex tasks related to military operations at the Combatant Command staff level.
Candidate must have a DoD 8750 IAT-II Base Certification such as CompTIA Security+.
Candidate must have or be able to obtain within the first 6 months a DoD 8750 IAT-II Computing Environment (CE) Certification for Linux or Windows Server environments.
Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) certification.
Certifications or formal training for: Solaris, UNIX, LINUX.
Certification for Microsoft Server 2010 or 2013.
Prior military experience with GCCS-A/J, or other related intelligence gathering / all-source data systems
Military or civilian experience with GCCS, especially GCCS-J.
Familiarity with Agile software development methodology.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 3+ years of related systems/network troubleshooting experience are required; OR, High School equivalent and 7+ years of experience.
- Minimum Secret. Ability to upgrade to Top Secret.
